I’d like to think that I’m not the kind of person that gets captivated by things to the point of obsession, but one exception is my complete love for Lolita, a book I first picked up as a summer read many years ago. There was something about the sinister sweet context that grasped my attention in an unwavering way. Since then I’ve been able to reacquaint myself with Lolita via Olympia Le Tan’s bag collection (which also happened to feature in a favourite short film of mine) and when I watched an early Stanley Kubrick, black and white adaptation. It’s been incredible to see the work of Nabokov inspire art, film and now fashion too. The Shakuhachi Autumn/Winter collection features a Lolita silk tee that I need to get my hands on. I can see it being on high rotation, loosely tucked into a pencil skirt or leather pants.
