Are Your Seams Straight?

If you explored the Adelaide Vintage Expo over the weekend then it’s likely that the answer is no. I made an impetuous trip down on Sunday afternoon and needed to pull up my stockings both figuratively and literally. There was an abundance of stalls selling woolen maxis, leather pants, pencil skirts, furs, embellished blouses, sequined dresses, double breasted suit jackets and printed shirts. Not to mention hats, jewelry, bags and shoes galore. It really called out to my inner Betty Draper. A usual skeptic of items labeled ‘vintage’ (the term is often misused), I was delighted to find that most garments had detailed labels of era and prices ranged from $10-$300. There was a pop up tattoo parlor, barbershop, a burlesque show and vintage cars. I nabbed a high waist mini leather skirt for $20 and a brocade silver blouse with black chiffon sleeves for $15 (as seen below). Needless to say, it would be worthwhile going to the next one.

A few stalls have stores in Adelaide and Melbourne that can be checked out below:
